WARDOGS server queue: how long it takes and how to skip it
Queues exist because good servers stay full. A 100-slot server churns players constantly, so a 10-deep queue is a few minutes, not an hour. To avoid them: sort by free slots in a single region, favourite two or three servers so you always have a fallback, or rent your own so your group never waits.
How queues move
Players leave 100-slot servers all the time: round end, ragequits, disconnects. At peak a position clears every 20–40 seconds, so:
| Queue position | Typical wait |
|---|---|
| 1–3 | Under a minute |
| 5 | 2–3 minutes |
| 10 | 3–6 minutes |
| 20+ | Pick another server |
Faster ways in
- One region, sort by free slots. Servers showing 2–8 open slots are the sweet spot: busy, joinable.
- Favourite three servers. Then you're never stuck when one fills.
- Join at round end. If the browser shows time remaining, the biggest exodus is right after a round ends.
- Off-peak. UK evenings 8–11 pm are the crush; before 6 pm or after midnight most servers have slots.
Never queue again
If you play with the same group most nights, the only guaranteed fix is your own server. You rent from an approved host (there's no self-hosting), name it, set the map rotation, and your group joins whenever it likes. Three hosts, compared with prices and who each suits, on the server hosting page.
For a group that plays three evenings a week, xREALM's pay-per-hour billing makes a private 60-slot server cheaper than two coffees a week. A community that runs every night is better on a QONZER or BisectHosting monthly box.
Queue bugs
- Queue counter stuck: alt-tab, wait 30 s; the join completes late more often than it fails.
- Kicked to menu at position 1: the slot went to someone with a reserved join. Rejoin; you keep priority for a short window on most hosts.
- Empty browser: region filter.
FAQ
How long is the WARDOGS queue?
On a 100-slot server, each queue position clears in roughly 20–40 seconds at peak because players leave constantly. A 10-deep queue is usually 3–6 minutes.
Can I skip the queue?
Join a server with free slots instead (sort by free slots, one region), or run your own community server where you and your group have guaranteed slots.
Is there a reserved slot or VIP queue?
Not as a game feature at launch, and BULKHEAD hasn't published rules on servers selling reserved slots.
Sick of full servers and queues?
Rent your own WARDOGS server from an approved host and play with your mates on your rules. UK/EU: QONZER (bare metal, no slot fees). Anywhere else: BisectHosting (21 locations). Casual group: xREALM (pay by the hour). Full comparison.
