WARDOGS beginner tips: how to earn cash, win the zone and not waste your first night

Updated 2026-09-09 · Gameplay

WARDOGS is three teams, one zone, first to 100 points, and everything you buy is paid for with cash you earn in the match. The mistakes that lose new players their first night are spending cash on a vehicle and dying in it, pushing the zone when they're in the lead, and playing without fixing FOV and audio first. Ten minutes of setup and one round of watching pays back all night.

How cash works

You earn cash for kills, assists, captures, time holding the zone, revives, repairs and resupplies. You spend it at your base on weapons, attachments, vehicles and building materials. Die with a £2,000 loadout and the money's gone, so the game is really about spending on things that survive: a good primary you play carefully, or materials that fortify the zone for the whole team.

Proximity chat

It's on by default and enemies within earshot hear you. Use it: telling an enemy squad "we're not coming for you, go for the leader" is a legitimate tactic in a three-team game. Use team voice for anything you don't want heard.

Servers fill in seconds and the browser hides servers when several regions are ticked. Pick one region. If the game won't start at all, the crash fixes cover it.

FAQ

How do I earn cash in WARDOGS?

Kills, assists, captures, holding the zone, revives, repairs and resupply all pay. Teamplay actions pay reliably; kills pay more but you lose your kit when you die.

What should I buy first?

Nothing for the first round. Learn the map on the free starter weapons, then spend on a primary you'll keep alive, not a vehicle.

Why do we keep losing the zone with a lead?

Three teams. The leader gets attacked by both others. Hold with defence and building, don't over-extend when you're ahead.

Sick of full servers and queues?

Rent your own WARDOGS server from an approved host and play with your mates on your rules. UK/EU: QONZER (bare metal, no slot fees). Anywhere else: BisectHosting (21 locations). Casual group: xREALM (pay by the hour). Full comparison.
